What is Health Sciences with an emphasis in Health Management?
Health Sciences is the newest program offered by the School of Allied Medical Professions at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Because health care is rapidly changing, there is a need for broadly educated graduates with extensive knowledge of health care and service-related topics.
The Health Management area of concentration focuses on the business aspects of health care and health-related services. Graduates will not only have a strong business background, they will have a strong health and science background to more effectively communicate with medical professionals. Students will develop knowledge of management principles, reimbursement, finance, information systems, interpretation of data, ethical and legal considerations, and skills for managing people and systems.
At The Ohio State University at Lima, you can complete the Health Sciences Program with an emphasis in Health Management and earn a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Professions with a General Business Minor. This minor from the Fisher College of Business is built into the program and needs no additional course work to complete.
Career Opportunities
The Health Sciences Program with an emphasis in Health Management prepares graduates for many career opportunities, beginning in a variety of entry-level positions in all sectors of the health care industry. These include managed care organizations, hospitals, clinics, sub-acute and ambulatory care facilities, physician group practices, non-profit agencies, and insurance or commercial companies.
