If you have a bachelor's degree in education or another area, The Ohio State University at Lima Master of Education degree program will prepare you for initial teaching licensure in Early Childhood (pre-kindergarten through grade three) or Middle Childhood education (grade four through grade nine).

At The Ohio State University at Lima, future teachers first earn a bachelor's degree with an emphasis in content areas and then complete their teacher licensure with the Master of Education program, a five-quarter sequence of courses combining university study and classroom-based experiences. The MEd program at The Ohio State Univesity at Lima begins in the summer quarter, and ends the following summer.
Early Childhood students become licensed to teach grades pre-kindergarten through grade three, and Middle Childhood students become licensed to teach grades four through grades nine in two areas of concentration. Middle Childhood students choose from the following areas of concentration: mathematics, science, language arts, and social studies.

The MEd program at The Ohio State University at Lima offers the following advantages for students:
  • Students connect current educational theory and research-based methodologies to classroom teaching experiences each quarter of the program.
  • Class sizes are small allowing for discussion and collaborative learning.
  • Faculty is readily available to support students’ learning.
  • During coursework, integration of concepts is emphasized, along with the State of Ohio Content Standards for each subject area.
