The English Department of The Ohio State University has announced that the Robert E. Reiter Prize for Critical Analysis for the best critical essay written in an undergraduate English course has been awarded for 2007-08 to Nellie Smith. The award is accompanied by $300. Nellie wrote the paper in Professor John Hellmann's English 578.02 course at the Lima campus on the films of Alfred Hitchcock. The title of the award-winning essay is "Shattered Glasses: Symbolism of the Female Gaze in STRANGERS ON A TRAIN." The award, which involves competition from among all essays written at any campus of The Ohio State University, has been won three of the last four years by three different students at the Lima campus.
