First-Year Success Series 2007/2008
What is the Success Series?
Successful first-year students at Ohio State are those who learn how to utilize resources, resolve problems, and prepare themselves to take full advantage of their time here on campus. The Success Series helps to promote this success by offering short courses and presentations on the common concerns and questions first-year students have during their transition to university life. Moreover, successful students realize that learning extends beyond the walls of the traditional classroom and includes experiences with the performing arts.
First year students are often requested to attend events as a requirement for their Survey classes. However, they are highly encouraged to continue attending Success Series sessions that interest them throughout the year.

- Howling at the Moon: Writing Our Lives--This session presents a variety of viewpoints about what it means to be growing older today. The material ranges from funny to deeply personal and inspirational monologues written by each presenter.

- Bi-Okoto Drum and Dance Threatre--This session presents an eclectic repertoire of over ninety authentic traditional dances, music, dance-dramas, operas, and new contemporary works from Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Mali, Guinea, Senegal, Kenya and South Africa. The mission of this group is to preserve traditional African drum and dance heritage and promote cultural understanding by educating audiences of all ages about African countries through language, music and movement for a better appreciation of diversity.
