Master of Social Work Program
Regular Part-Time Program
Option
and
Advanced Standing Alternative Plan (ASAP) Option
Overview
The part-time MSW option at Ohio State Lima provides the opportunity to enroll in The Ohio State University's nationally recognized and fully accredited MSW program with the convenience of being close to home. Through a cooperative agreement between the OSU College of Social Work and Ohio State Lima, students are able to complete the Master of Social Work degree requirements. Ohio State Lima students receive the same quality educational experience as their Columbus campus counterparts. Classes are taught by OSU College of Social Work faculty and community practitioners. The same course of study, syllabi, and texts are used on all campuses.

Program Components
The OSU College of Social Work's MSW program provides an educational experience that responds to the need for greater competency in diverse practice arenas. Students acquire knowledge and skills in foundation areas of social work focusing on research, welfare policies and programs, human behavior and the social environment, and human diversity, as well as advanced skills in clinical or social administration practice. Two field practicums are scheduled along with the classroom courses during specified quarters of enrollment. Field practicum assignments close to the student's home community may be made at social service agencies that meet the educational requirements to be certified as a qualified practicum site.
Program Options
Ohio State Lima now offers two options to earn a Master in Social Work Degree:
- Regular Part-Time Program Option
- Part-Time Advanced Standing Alternative Plan (ASAP) Program Option: allows to complete the degree with 60 credit hours (30 credit hours are waived). Open to qualified students who have earned a BSW degree.
Program Schedule
We recognize that students work and have varied
responsibilities; therefore, The Ohio State Lima Part-Time
Option offers students the chance to complete the degree on a part-time
basis. Students take two classes per quarter. Our courses are scheduled
during the evening or on an occasional Saturday. Class times may vary
at the Columbus campus and students may be required to take some
daytime classes while completing the program. The program consists of
12 consecutive quarters of study (including summers).
