Admission Criteria

Admission requirements for the Master of Arts degree include:

  • A baccalaureate degree in an appropriate discipline and experience in the designated area of specialization
  • A cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 ** Includes ALL educational experiences.
  • There is not a "cut-off" minimum GRE score used in the PAES admissions process. It is only one piece of the entire application but should be taken seriously. PAES programs are generally looking for at least a score of 1000 (combined verbal and quantitative sections) and 4.0 on the writing section. Most successful applicants prepare for it with the CD- ROM practice tests found in many test prep books. Please note: Test scores must be less than five years old.
  • Appropriate professional experience stated commitment as a future practitioner in some aspect of workforce development and education
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • Vita / Resume

These criteria are in addition to the criteria specified in the OSU Graduate School Handbook and the PAES Graduate Studies Handbook. Applicants not meeting the requirements may be admitted conditionally, based on the strength of reviewing faculty letters of support and scores on the Graduate Record Examination.
