Ohio State Lima celebrates diversity through art
The Ohio State University at Lima will host the ArtAbility show featuring works from Marimor students Mon., March 7 through Fri., March 11, 2011, in Reed Hall 160.
“Ohio State Lima is dedicated to celebrating all forms of art. We are honored to host the ArtAbility show for the artists, our students and the entire community,” said John R. Snyder, Ohio State Lima Dean and Director. “I think people will be impressed by the talent of these artists.”
The display will showcase 40-45 pieces from 12 artists who attend Marimor’s ArtAbility Studio. The ArtAbility program was developed to provide opportunities for artists enrolled in the Marimor Adult Services Program to express their ideas and visions through art, and raise community awareness and encourage participation and volunteerism with the program.
Artists will be on hand for a reception from 12:00-1:15 p.m., Mon., March 7, 2011, in Reed Hall 160. A disability awareness presentation will augment the show and reception from 12:15-1:00 p.m., Mon., March 7, 2011, in the Martha W. Farmer Theatre for the Performing Arts in Reed Hall. Self advocates Joe Vance and Laura Herron will address what it’s like to live with a disability and answer audience questions. To wrap up the show, the Marimor High School Bell Choir will perform at 12:00 p.m., Fri., March 11, 2011, in the Martha W. Farmer Theatre for the Performing Arts in Reed Hall.
The art show is free and open to the public.
