Lima Area students celebrate health education
STUDENTS
THROUGHOUT THE LIMA AREA WILL CELEBRATE HEALTH EDUCATION
The
Allen County Health Department, Proctor and Gamble, St. Rita's Medical Center
and The Ohio State University at Lima have partnered with the area schools of
Allen East, Delphos Franklin, Elida
Elementary School, Golden Bridge Academy, Heir
Force, and Heritage Elementary
to educate ekindergartners and
Kindergartners first-graders
on fighting childhood obesity.1st
The
5210 program has been teaching the children of these schools to eat 5 servings
of fruits and vegetables, limit time in front of a TV or computer to 2
hours, get 1 hour of physical activity, and to drink 0 sugar
sweetened drinks each day. Throughout the month of May students will be
attending the 5210 Final Celebration to celebrate all they have learned in the

and the Community course (T&L 608) led by Brittany
Collier-GibsonT&L 608 have organized the celebrations
and will lead the children in an hour long fun and educational program built around
healthy choices.,
The 5210 Final Celebration days will be held at each school on the following days.
1:30-2:30 p.m., Mon., May 23, 2011, at the Golden Bridge Academy
1:30-2:30 p.m., Tues., May 24, 2011, at Delphos Franklin
2-3 p.m., Fri., May 27, 2011, at Allen East
Heir Force and Heritage Elementary have already held their final celebrations.
May 19th Heir
Force from 9-10 a.m., May 19th Heritage elementary from 1-2 p.m.,
May 23rd Golden Bridge Academy from 1:30 to 2:30, May 24th
Delphos Franklin from 1:30-2:30 p.m., and May 27th Allen East from
2-3 p.m.
