Media Alert: Ohio State Lima freshmen to attend annual leadership camp
The Ohio State University at Lima is gearing up to welcome one of its largest freshman classes ever with the annual freshman leadership retreat, Campin’ on the Quad, Fri., Sept. 16, 2011.
Nearly 90 first-year students are registered to attend the leadership retreat, which begins at 9:30 a.m. on the Ohio State Lima campus and continues throughout the day at various locations around Lima.
"We continue to draw students from larger geographical area and many of them are not as familiar with the Lima community. This is an opportunity for them to jump right in and begin making friends and connections," said Beth Keehn, associate director for Ohio State Lima and director of Enrollment Services. "Research tells us that students who get involved and make connections succeed at a much higher rate than those who don’t. This event is simply setting them up for success."
Students attending Campin’ on the Quad will compete in a flash mob contest, go bowling, participate in leadership and team building initiatives, hear from a comedian, roast marshmallows, go star gazing and plant a buckeye tree on behalf of their freshman class.
Autumn Quarter classes begin Wed., Sept. 21, 2011.
