Husky Energy’s $75,000 gift to help Ohio State Lima Student Life Center and community health

Husky Energy, parent Company of Husky Lima Refinery, has made a $75,000 gift to The Ohio State University at Lima to transform the student life experience on campus while opening doors to healthy living opportunities to the entire community.

Husky will present Ohio State Lima with a check during the celebration of its 75th anniversary at the company picnic at 4 p.m., Sun., Aug. 18, 2013, at the Allen County Fair in the picnic tent behind the Gospel Singing Tent on the north end of the grounds.

The gift to the Student Life Center will help build an extraordinary environment that will enhance and expand the opportunities for physical activity and social interaction in the community and on campus. Now in its design phase, the Student Life Center will provide a much-needed gathering area for students and a wellness hub for the surrounding community.

"Husky Lima Refinery is honored to be able to support the The Ohio State University and its new Student Life Center," said Roy Warnock, Vice President and General Manager of Husky Lima Refinery. "By partnering with Ohio State on this project, we are supporting the health and wellness of our students, our community and our future employees at the Refinery. This is a great investment in the Lima community."

The impact of the Student Life Center will reach well beyond the student body at the Lima Campus. The people and groups in the surrounding communities will also be able to use the facility to improve their health and lives through physical fitness.

Husky’s gift supports Ohio State Lima’s $5 million campaign to place students first by increasing the scholarship funds available, to elevate faculty and academic enterprise and research through faculty and program support, and to create modern learning environments with the new Student Life Building. It is part of the University-wide, $2.5 billion But for Ohio State campaign, which has raised more than $1.6 billion to date.

Husky is one of Canada’s largest integrated energy companies, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, and has been a member of the Lima community since 2007 when it assumed ownership of the Lima Refinery. Husky prides itself on being a committed corporate citizen, dedicated to volunteerism, advocacy and investment.
