Media Alert: OSU Marching Band Director available for media one-on-ones Oct. 8

Marching Band will perform two shows in Lima Oct. 24

Dr. Jon R. Woods, Director of The Ohio State University Marching Band, will be available to speak to individual media outlets at 10:35 a.m., Mon., Oct. 8, 2007, in front of the Crouse Performance Hall at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center in Lima. At least one local alumni of the marching band will also be available for comment at 10:35 a.m. Dr. Woods will speak to the Lima Rotary Club at noon.

Dr. Woods is in his twenty-third year as Director of The Ohio State University Marching Band. He served as Associate Director for ten years before coming director. His duties with the band include Principal Field Conductor, Show Coordinator, and Administrator. Dr. Woods also serves as administrative coordinator and conductor of all Athletic Bands, which provide for various campus sporting events. As a faculty member of the School of Music, his teaching responsibilities include graduate music courses, graduate advising for masters and doctoral students, secondary instrumental methods, marching band techniques, supervision of student teachers, and principal conductor of The Concert Repertory Band. A recipient of the School of Music Distinguished Teaching Award, Dr. Woods is recognized nationally as a clinician and adjudicator for both marching and concert band festivals.

Ohio State Lima will welcome the OSU Marching Band to Lima for two concerts on Wed., Oct. 24, 2007, at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center. Performances will be held at 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Crouse Performance Hall.

Select students from area high school bands will be dining with Dr. Woods and the members of the OSU Marching Band between the two performances. These students will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the benefits of being a member of TBDBITL.

Reserve tickets can be purchased at the Civic Center Box Office Monday Friday from 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Advanced tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for seniors and children 12 and under. Tickets at the door are $25 for adults, $16 for seniors and children 12 and under.
