For Immediate Release February 10, 2004 CONTACT: Pam Joseph at (419) 995-8284 OSU seeks entries for annual high school creative writing contest Entries are now being accepted for the 2004 Creative Writing Competition for Allen County high school students. The contest is designed to reward creative writing by high school students in poetry and short fiction. The two age divisions are 9th/10th grade and 11th/12th. Thanks to the generous support of the Lima Breakfast Optimists and the Lima Noon Optimists, first place winners in the 11th/12th grade division will be awarded $200, second place $150, third place $100, and honorable mentions $25. In the 9th/10th grade division, first place will earn $100, second place $75, third place $50, and honorable mentions $15. First, second and third place winners will also be eligible for Ohio State Lima scholarship vouchers of $500, $400 and $300, respectively. In 2003, 99 entries from 10 area high schools were received. Entry forms are available at area high schools or at the University’s Writing Center web site lima.osu.edu/writing/essays.htm. Winners and their families will be honored at a reception at the University Tuesday, May 4, 2004.
