Ohio State Lima welcomes new faculty and staff for Autumn Quarter

The Ohio State University at Lima is pleased to welcome several new staff and faculty members to the Ohio State family for the Autumn 2003 Quarter.

Dr. Karen Leick is a new Assistant Professor of English. Dr. Leickís primary research and teaching interests are American modernism, twentieth-century literature and culture, poetry, critical theory, and gender studies. She received her doctorate and masterís degrees in English Literature from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and her Bachelorís Degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Brian A. Himebaugh is a new Visiting Assistant Professor of History. His areas of concentration include American diplomacy, modern America, early America, and colonial America. Dr. Himebaugh earned his doctorate in History from the University of Akron with a dissertation titled ďRemembering Vietnam: The Emergence of a New Cultural Consensus in Film and Television.Ē He earned a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from Ohio University and a Bachelor of Science degree in International Relations from Middle Tennessee State University. Dr. Himebaugh has taught for Ohio State in the past at Ohio State Marion and Ohio State Limaís Bellefontaine Center.

Peace Li is the new Business Program Coordinator for the Bachelorís Degree program in General Business. Li earned her Master of Accounting degree from the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting from Franklin University and in International Business from Ocean University in Qingdao, China.

Monika Major is the new lecturer in Spanish. A native of Poland, Major reads four languages and speaks three. Her Masterís Degree in Hispanic Literature and Cultures and Bachelorís Degree in Spanish are from Ohio State. Her areas of concentration include Modern Pennisular Literature and Modern Latin American Literature.

Dr. Patrick Owen is a Visiting Professor of Biology. Dr. Owen attended Bulter University and received his doctorate from the University of Connecticut in the department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. He has received several awards and grants for his research on green frogs and chorus frogs.

Dr. Timothy Rodriguez is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Education, Teaching and Learning. His research specialties and interests include developmental reading and bilingual education. He received his doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Iowa, his Masterís Degree in developmental reading from Western Illinois University and Bachelorís Degree in Elementary Education and Bilingual Education from Western Illinois University.

Richard Scheer is the new night custodian. Mr. Scheer holds certificates in Environmental Studies and Business Management from the University of Findlay. He comes to us from Siemans Automotive.

Dr. John R. Snyder is the new Dean and Director. He is also a tenured professor in the School of Allied Medicine, College of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Snyder comes to Ohio State Lima from the position of dean of the School of Allied Health Professions at Louisiana State University. Dr. Snyder attended and graduated from Wilkes College, Elmira College and Central Michigan University. He earned his PhD from the University of Nebraska.

Brad Steinmetz is an Assistant Professor of Theatre. His work in scenic design has allowed him to work on the productions of many notable playwrights, including Tennessee Williams, Howard Ashman, Alan Menken, Frederich Knott, Neil Simon and Arthur Miller. He recently received his Master of Fine Arts, the terminal degree in his field, from The Ohio State University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and German from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.
