 Fifth Third Bank to present $25,000 to Ohio State Lima

Fifth Third Bank will present a check for $25,000 to The Ohio State University at Lima at 9 a.m., Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, in the Dean’s Suite, 208 Public Service Building. This grant donation is the last of four equal installments totaling $100,000 from the Charles E. Schell Foundation that provides interest-free loans to qualifying students who need financial assistance to complete their educations.

“As this area’s only landgrant institution, it is our mission to bring educational opportunities to the people of the region. This grant is indicative of Fifth Third’s ongoing support of higher education for the citizens of northwest Ohio,” said Amanda Miller, Ohio State Lima’s Director of Development. “This partnership helps students continue their educations in spite of economic hardship. We appreciate Fifth Third’s commitment to the students and the University.”

As students who receive the Schell Loans repay them, the funds revolve back into the fund for use by new borrowers. Fifth Third Bank is the trustee of the Schell Foundation.

During the 2002-2003 academic year, Ohio State Lima students received more than $5.4 million in public and private scholarships, federal and state grants, and student loans.
