Release CONTACT: Pam Joseph at (419) 995-8284 Young gardeners invite the public to celebrate successful butterfly haven The new butterfly garden at Hover Park is nearly ready to sleep for the winter, but before that happens the young creators of the garden invite the public to help celebrate its successful first season at 5:30 p.m., Wed., Oct. 13, 2004. Local youth involved in Positive Partnerships, an environmental program funded by the Lima City Parks, designed and created the garden that revolves around the four life stages of the butterfly. The young people identified the butterfly species found in the area, researched their needs, and planned a garden to meet those life cycle needs. They broke ground on the garden in July. The garden is designed to attract butterflies in the spring and summer months. The Allen County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Task Force is the lead partner in Positive Partnerships. Supporting partners include The Ohio State University at Lima, the Allen County Juvenile Court, DeHaven Home and Garden Showplace, and P.U.R.P.O.S.E (People Understanding Real Problems of Society and Education). Visitors should park at the Hover Park Shelter House and follow the path to the garden. Hover Park is located on South Collett Street across from the Collett Street Recreation Area. # # # |
