Ohio State Lima welcomes 2007 Science Olympiad participants

Winners will advance to state competition

The Northwest Ohio Regional Science Olympiad for middle school and high school students will be held at The Ohio State University at Lima on Saturday, March 3, 2007. Top scoring teams from regional competitions are invited to compete at the Ohio Science Olympiad at Ohio State University on April 14, 2007.  Top ranked teams from state competitions will compete in the 23rd annual National Science Olympiad Tournament at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, May 18-19.

Science Olympiad is an international nonprofit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science, and recognizing outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers.  Science Olympiad tournaments are academic competitions balanced between biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, and technology.  There is also a balance between events requiring knowledge of science concepts and science applications. 

Participating middle schools include Anna Middle School, Ayersville Middle School, Byrnedale Junior High, Copley-Fairlawn Middle School, Elida Middle School, Ft. Loramie Jr. High, Montpelier Middle School, Paulding Middle School, Robinson Middle School, Russia Middle School, Sacred Heart School, Shawnee Middle School, Sidney Middle School, Springfield Middle School, St. Johnís Jesuit Academy, St. Joseph Central Catholic Middle School and St. Pius X School.

High schools include Anna High School, Ayersville High School, Bath High School, Central Catholic High School, Gorham Fayette High School, Lehman Catholic High School, Libbey High School, Lima Central Catholic High School, Ottawa-Glandorf High School, Paulding High School, Port Clinton High School, Russia High School, Scott High School, Shawnee Middle School, Springfield High School, St. Joseph Central Catholic High School, Start High School, Sylvania Southview, Toledo Early College High School, Toledo Technology Academy and Woodward High School.
