TIP 2 - Complete and submit your FAFSA by March 3 for the next academic year. Do not wait to find out if you have been admitted! March 3 is the Ohio State scholarship application deadline as well as the priority filing date for certain other types of aid, including Federal Work Study, Federal Perkins Loan, and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant.
TIP 3 - File electronically at FAFSA on the Web. It's faster, it's easier, and it's more user-friendly than the paper application. Complete the FAFSA on the Web Worksheet first and you'll sail through the process! You'll need to gather these documents in order to complete either the worksheet or paper FAFSA:
- Your Social Security card and driver's license
- W-2 forms or other records of income earned
- Your (and your spouse's, if you are married) Federal Income Tax return
- Your parents' Federal Income Tax Return, if you are a dependent student
Records of other untaxed income received such as welfare benefits, social security benefits or veteran's benefits, disability, or military or clergy allowances - Current bank statements and records of stocks, bonds and other investments
Business or farm records, if applicable - Your alien registration card (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
TIP 4 - When filing your FAFSA, avoid processing delays by:
- Filing on time (March 3)
- Using accurate information
- Following FAFSA instructions carefully
- Providing your e-mail address on the FAFSA
- Monitoring your status and complying quickly to any requests for additional information
