Position Announcement

Assistant Professor of Music

The Ohio State University at Lima invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music, with a focus on Music Education. The appointment will be made in the School of Music at The Ohio State University and begin in September 2010.

The search committee seeks musicians who can make a strong commitment to the teaching, research, and outreach missions of The Ohio State University. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate applied piano, class piano, and piano literature, as well as introductory courses in music history, including, but not limited to American Music, special topics courses on popular genres, an interdisciplinary art and music course, and History of Western Art Music. Other required responsibilities include accompanying choral concerts and other musical events and performances as needed. A record of successful university teaching, curriculum development, and participation in piano organizations at the state and national level is preferred. All faculty members in the School of Music are expected to engage in scholarly research or creative activities as prescribed by the Division, and to demonstrate a commitment to professional and community service. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in music in hand at the time of appointment. Salary is competitive.

TThe Ohio State University at Lima is one of five campuses of The Ohio State University. Current enrollment on the Lima campus is 1,400 students and there are approximately 100 full- and part-time faculty in all academic departments. Ohio State Lima offers the first two years of the Ohio State general education curriculum and ten programs leading to baccalaureate degrees. Ohio State Lima also offers Master's degree programs in Education and Social Work.
