Outlook 2007 Archiving Problem

The Ohio State University at Lima
Technical Bulletin #200705231300

When you manually run the Archive command on a folder, it reads through the
messages but doesn't actually move any to the archive folder. Similarly,
Auto-archive doesn't move messages either.

Outlook bases it's archival decision on the date of last modification, not
when the item was received. If a user's mail was recently imported, say,
during an upgrade, or a recent download from a server, then the Last
Modified date is today, not the date of reception of the messages.

Manually move items to an archive folder using drag + drop. Archive and
auto-archive will "catch up" to the settings eventually.

-or-

Use Tools | Organize to move messages based on Received Date.

-or-

Use Tools | Mailbox Cleanup.
