Basic Computer Skills for Any Major

These introductory courses provide basic skills for students with limited or no previous computer experience. They require minimal or no prerequisites, and DO NOT teach programming.

Basic Programming Skills for Any Major

For students with an interest in digital art, entertainment, interactive media, and electronic/computer games, we offer two entry-level courses. These courses require no prerequisites and no previous programming experience.
  • Create interactive games and animations in  CSE203. This is a GEC course for BA.
  • Manipulate digital images and sound in CSE204. This is a GEC course for BA.

Introductory Programming Courses

Students with an interest in programming can start with CSE201. The course requires a minimal math prerequisite (Math075) and no programming experience. Java is taught.

Engineers and Scientists can learn C++ programming skills and fulfill the prerequisite for ME 410 with CSE202. No programming experience is required.

Pre-CSE students can start with either CSE201 or CSE202.
