Buckeye Agricultural Society - Student Organization on Campus
The purpose of the Buckeye Agricultural Society is to provide
a forum for students interested in majors through the College of Food,
Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) and students interested in "ag"
to join together for discussion, social activities, and informal educational
opportunities.
Goals of the Society include the following:
-
To provide the opportunity for "ag" students at the Lima
campus to get to know each other and to develop friendships and working
relationships that can carry over to the Columbus campus and on into their
professional careers.
-
To provide a network between the "ag" students on the Lima
campus and CFAES clubs in Columbus.
-
To provide an opportunity for leadership development among
"ag" students at the Lima campus.
-
To promote course offerings from CFAES, to work together to
request additional CFAES courses, and to provide a means of promoting these
classes to students.
-
To broaden people's horizons in the area of food science,
agricultural sciences, and natural resources.
-
To serve as Ambassadors of Ag to students on the Lima
campus, to area vo-ag departments and high school students, and to the general
public in the Lima campus service area.
Membership in this organization is open to any current or
former student at Ohio State Lima or Rhodes State College who has an interest
in agriculture. Members are expected to participate in meetings and activities
at least once per quarter. Voting membership is limited to current Ohio State
Lima and Rhodes State College students who have paid their dues in full for
the program year.
The Society plans to hold three meetings/activities for the
general membership each autumn, winter, and spring quarters and at least one
activity during the summer. The transition from one officer team to the next
will occur with the symbolic passing of the gavel during the summer activity.
Dues are $10.00 per year, pro-rated at $3.00 for each of
autumn, winter, and spring quarters, and $1.00 for summer. Dues are due and
payable by the middle of autumn quarter, or at the beginning of the quarter in
which a student wishes to join.
